Sleep helps weight loss

Losing sleep can cause you to gain weight or have trouble losing weight. Don't believe me? See this month's Reader's Digest article 13 Things You Never Knew About Your Weight. Fact 6 is about a new book called The Skinny which again explains the link between sleep and weight. The book is written by Dr. Louis Arrone, a clinical medical professor who specializes in weight issues.
Research studies, like this one have determined that body chemistry changes with sleep patterns. Reduced sleep decreases the production of "leptin," something that tells your brain when you have had enough to eat. And, reduced sleep increases the production of "ghrelin," the chemical that tells you when you're hungry. So, when you sleep less, you literally feel hungry more often and full less quickly.
