Today, John McClain a research fellow at the National Cancer Institute released the resultls of a study on breast cancer risk. The study says that increased exercised combined with enough sleep reduced the risk of breast cancer. The study included nearly 6,000 women in Maryland, who were followed for about ten years.
Prior to the study it was already known that women who exercise regularly have a reduced risk of breast cancer and a number of other diseases. The study discovered that among women who do exercise regularly, the risk of breast cancer was almost 50% higher in women who slept less than seven hours per night.
The results are being reported by Reuters and other news services but the study does not appear to be posted yet on the NCI website. Look for it on the NCI newsletter page later today; the site seems to be updated on Mondays.
